Newsletter 1996 "Dear Friends, First a big thankyou to everyone who has been in contact with me, I've had over 1000 cards since my accident! And, an even bigger thankyou to everyone who sent in a donation to my trust fund - every penny counts!! As you might guess, when something likes this happens to you it's totally unexpected, and so it has totally unexpected results. In Julian's Newsletter he said that I am unable to claim injury insurance because, despite the damage to my spinal cord which means I no longer have the use my limbs, none of my limbs were lost in the accident! so my injuries were not covered by the wording in my car insurance - and this was with one of the major insurance companies!! It's made me think about the problems of insurance and, in particular, how valuable accident insurance would be for musicians. I hear that there may be such a policy - it would have been a big help to me in my present predicament! Anyway I have been in contact with Julian and asked him to look into the matter - He thinks it may be possible to set up a group policy - if it can be set up at a sensible price I'd strongly recommend that all my colleagues consider such cover. For my part knowing that you have this basic level of insurance would mean that something positive, no matter how small, would have come out of my accident. As you'll see, as you surf this site, fundraising events are gathering apace - for which I do not have sufficient words to express my feeling of gratitude, everyone's been fantastic - without your support and kindness it would have been so much more difficult to cope during these dark months. I wish you all the best for 1996. See you soon!"
