  LAUREN ABBOTT  (Violin)» 

Biography
Lauren is 2nd Violin in the Saffron Strings, and their recitals include performances with Jonathan Viera (baritone) Glyndebourne Principal. Lauren's session work includes recent miming work for Leona Lewis and Susan Boyle, bookings at Snake Ranch Studios for KPM music library and for string backing tracks for Ace of Base, London records, and Channel 4's Planet Pop as well as several recordings for film music and Omar. She has also performed with Mary J Blige on her UK tour and with Moody Blues.

As a soloist, Lauren has given a lunchtime recital at St Martin in the Fields as part of the Young Musicians Trust.

In early 2006, Lauren created and performed all the music for the Audi Television Advertisement, The Spider.

Lauren was Orchestra Manager for the British Youth Opera (1997 - 2000).

Lauren's main interests are Scuba diving, dance, art, travel and sport. Lauren has worked in the jungles of Costa Rica and travelled extensively in Australia, New Zealand,Africa, China, Phillipines, Venezuela, Thailand, Borneo, Indonesia and India. She is a qualified PADI Advanced Diver. Lauren also works as a runner for the Discovery Channel.

Orchestras: Bath Philharmonia, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra, Chameleon Arts Orchestra, English Classical Players, Glyndebourne Touring Opera, Guildford Philharmonic Orchestra, Hatfield Philharmonic, Imperial College, Johann Strauss Orchestra, London Concert Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, Northern Ballet Theatre, Royal Opera House Orchestra, Welsh National Opera Orchestra. Sessions: Face Music, Karl Jenkins Music Ltd.

Lauren's orchestral work also includes Opera Del Mar (Principal 2nd), Presteigne Festival Orchestra (1st Violin, working with Paul Patterson, Gillian Keith, Freya Ritts-Kirby under the direction of George Vass), London Soloists Chamber Orchestra, Britten Pears Contemporary Music Ensemble (solo violin under Oliver Knussen, Fredd Sherry from the Julliard School and Colin Matthews), Surrey Mozart Players, Park Opera (Co-Principal 2nd), Britten Pears Orchestra (Principal 2nd), British Youth Opera, Cambridge New Music Players (Co-Principal 2nd), Concillium Chamber Orchestra, Universal Film Orchestra, Reservoir (Contemporary Music Ensemble),Trinity College Symphony Orchestra, Mandeville Ensemble (Leader at TCM), Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra, Rivoli Ensemble (Leader - Contemporary Music Group at Manchester University).

Education
Lauren's graduate studies took place at Trinity College of Music (Postgraduate Certifficate in Performance 1997 - 1999); Manchester University (BMus (Hons) Music 1993 - 1996)

Prizes and Awards
Surrey Exhibitioner at the Royal College of Music, taking part in Chamber Music, Symphony and Chamber Orchestras.

Teachers: Donna Lee Croft, Marius Bedeschi, Eszter Boda Katona and Howard Davis.

Coaching: As part of British Youth Opera training she has received coaching from Barry Griffiths (Leader ENO) and Tim Hewitt-Jones from the Royal Opera House. Chamber coaching from the Lindsay String Quartet and Michael Thomas from the Brodsky Quartet.
