Biography
Liesbeth Allart is a versatile oboist and cor anglais player. She is currently a member of Southbank Sinfonia '09. Other orchestral engagements include the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the Dutch Radio Philharmonic and Chamber Orchestras, Brabants Orkest and Combattimento Consort Amsterdam. Cor Anglais engagements include Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major and R. Strauss' Ein Heldenleben with Marc Soustrot.

She is the principal oboe / cor anglais and co-founder of the Dutch chamber group De Bezetting Speelt, for which she is also responsible for the artistic direction. DBS have succesfully introduced a joint music and visual arts concept in their Art Gallery Concert Series in Rotterdam. Other concerts include venues such as the Concertgebouw and the Muziekgebouw aan het IJ, Amsterdam.

Liesbeth has been involved in the side-by-side projects of Southbank Sinfonia with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Academy of St. Martin in the Fields and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and also the LPO Future Firsts Scheme as an extra Cor Anglais player for a concert with Vladimir Jurowski during the LPO Schnittke Festival.

DBS has also collaborated with the Dutch Opera Studio in an acclaimed production of Reigen, by Philippe Boesmans, directed by Harry Kupfer and performed in the Opéra national de Paris upon invitation.

As a soloist Liesbeth has performed Poul Ruders' Oboe Concerto to excellent reviews. Liesbeth has also performed the Vaughan Williams Oboe Concerto with Southbank Sinfonia, and JS Bach's Double Concerto for Violin and Oboe with the Kamerorkest Driebergen in the Netherlands. She will be performing Peteris Vasks's Cor Anglais Concerto in November.

Liesbeth trained at the Rotterdam Conservatoire with Emanuel Abbühl and at the Royal Northern College of Music with Melinda Maxwell.

Liesbeth has participated in education and outreach work with Southbank Sinfonia involving private tuiton and group improvisation sessions with primary and secondary school pupils (Marlborough College), and primary inner city schools with the BFI.

Liesbeth's graduate studies took place at Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester (Master of Music Performance, 2006. PGDip with distinction, 2007) and Rotterdam Conservatoire (Bachelor of Music, 2004)
