Biography
In addition to her orchestral work, Tessa has performed as a soloist in Vivaldi's Double Cello Concerto: February 2001 with the University Baroque Orchestra, Cardiff and the St Michaels Singers where she played Solo Cello in Feel the Spirit by John Rutter in April 2004. In November 2004, Tessa will be appearing as soloist with the Rhondda Symphony Orchestra in performances of Faure's Elegie and Bruch's Kol Nidrei.

Tessa has a keen interest in chamber music and currently plays in the Bennett Piano Trio. Previously, Tessa was a member of the Barley Quartet with whom she gave numerous concerts, including a performance as soloists in Elgar's Introduction and Allegro. She also plays in a flute and cello duo.

Throughout her studies Tessa has devoted a lot of her time to contemporary music and has premiered several professional and student compositions both in the UK and Australia.

Orchestral Work
Orchestras: Milton Keynes City Orchestra, National Musicians Symphony Orchestra, Rob McIntosh - Musical Associates, Surrey Festival Orchestra & Choir.

Tessa's orchestral work also includes playing principal or co-principal cello with the Llandaff Sinfonia, St Mary's Festival Orchestra, Cardiff Bach Choir, Ewenny Festival String Orchestra, Welsh Philharmonic Orchestra (guest principal), Rhondda Symphony Orchestra (guest principal), St Michaels Singers (solo cello), South Wales Sinfonia, City Ensemble, Cardiff University Symphony Orchestra (Britten War Requiem in the Chamber Orchestra). She has also played with the National Concert Orchestra of Wales.

As a student, Tessa was awarded a place on the BBC National Orchestra of Wales student placement scheme, and played sub principal for the RWCMD Symphony and Chamber Orchestras, and for the Newcastle Conservatorium Symphony and Chamber Orchestras (New South Wales, Australia). principal cello for Cardiff University Symphony and Chamber Orchestras, and for the Contemporary Ensemble. Tessa also founded the University Baroque Orchestra (soloist & principal cello) and the University String Ensemble.

Education
Tessa's schooling took place at Aylesbury High School between 1992-1999. Tessa's graduate studies took place at Cardiff University between 1999-2002 (BMus Hons: 2.i) and at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where she completed her Post Graduate Diploma between 2002-2003.

Prizes and Awards

  • Runner-Up in Cavatina Trust Chamber Music Competition in 2003
  • David Grieg Award, Milton Keynes Music Service in 1999
  • Buckinghamshire County / Milton Keynes Music Award (including scholarship) between 1994-1999

Teachers: Susan Eveson, Catherine Basil, Dewi Watkins, Michal Kaznowski, Richard May and Anthea Scott-Mitchell.

Tessa has participated in masterclasses with Alban Gerhardt, Leonid Gorokov, Sharon McKinley and David Smith as a soloist and with the Angell Piano Trio, Emperor Quartet Maggini Quartet, Roger Armstrong, Deborah Lander, Graham Oppenheimer, Gian-Franco Ricci, John Senter, Nick Whiting and Christoper WIlliams for ensemble and chamber work.
