Biography
Cellist, James Barralet, is a highly experienced chamber musician and has been guest principal at several major European orchestras including the Bournemouth Symphony, the Welsh National Opera, the Aurora, and the Heidelberger Kammerorchester. He is the cellist of the Beatson-Gould-Barralet trio with Alasdair Beatson (piano) and Thomas Gould (violin).

He studied at Basel Hochschule für Musik with Thomas Demenga and graduated with the Soloists Diploma in 2006. Previously, he studied with Hannah Roberts at the Royal Northern College of Music from where he graduated with a first class degree and two diplomas.

He has receive numerous awards including winner of the Landor Records competition, the Royal Philharmonic Society Julius Isserlis Scholarship, the Muriel Taylor Scholarship, a Hattori Foundation award and several others.

His debut solo CD with Landor Records was received to excellent critical acclaim in 2009.

Concertos with: The Orchestra of the Swan, Basel Symphony Orchestra, Cheltenham Symphony Orchestra, Kew Sinfonia, Lichfield Sinfonia, Warwickshire Symphony Orchestra, Croydon Symphony Orchestra.

Recitals: numerous including solo recitals at the Warwick International Festival, Balliol College, Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, Bridgewater Hall, Purcell Room, Barber Institute, Conway Hall, Brighton Festival, Newbury Spring Festival, Northern Aldborough Festival, Ryedale Festival, Basel Hochschule, Cairn Music Club, Cardigan Music Club, etc etc.
