Biography
Stephen's work as Musical Director includes the Royal Shakespeare Company (2005 - 06), Courtyard Theatre, Hereford Aladdin (2004 - 05), Clear Channel Youth Theatre Project Annie (2004), European tour Fosse (2002 - 03), P & O Victoria (2001) and Pride of Bilbao (1997 - 98), The New Breed Theatre Company, Newcastle (1990) and finally Camp Scatico, New York (1987 - 88). He also worked as Musical Director and Arranger with Cabaret at the Renaissance Hotel, Amsterdam (1994).

Stephen's other commitments as a Assistant Musical Director included the North American Tour of Fosse (2003 - 04), West End as well as Tour of Chicago (2002 - 03) and Cologne Saturday Night Fever (1999).

As a pianist Stephen has worked with the show Chicago (2002 - 03), Seabourn Sun formerly Royal Viking Sun (1996, 1998 and 2000), Amsterdam Gay Men's Chorus (also as an arranger, 1994 - 96), Netherlands Student Choir (1995), Leeds Education Authority providing music for lessons in primary schools (1992 - 93), and with Leeds Youth Players (1984 - 85). He was also a keyboard player in the show Me and My Girl, Birmingham (2001 - 02); keyboard player and repetiteur in Phantom of the Opera, Scheveningen (1994- 96) and accompanist and vocal coach at the Cathy Carol Dance School, Leeds (1992).

Stephen was a staff conductor and company pianist at the Northern Ballet Theatre (2000), also conductor and repetiteur at Leeds College of Music Opera Class (2000), and a conductor of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in Essen (1997 - 98). Other experience as conductor and musical director includes: Amsterdam Boys' Choir (1995), Koor Q Amsterdam Students' Choir (1994 - 96), Holy Trinity Parish Church, Meanwood, Leeds (organist and choirmaster 1992 - 93), Wetherby Music Centre (1992 - 93), Cambridge Village Colleges Choral Society (1991 - 92), Churchill College Cambridge (director of Chapel Music (1990 - 92), and Magdalene College, Cambridge (organ scholar 1997 - ?). Stephen also established a choir while working as a director of Chapel Music in Cambridge (1990 - 92).

Stephen's other musical experience involved him as a organist at the Roman Catholic Church, Begijnhof, Amsterdam (1995 - 96) and at St Clement's Parish Church, Cambridge (1987 - 92), as a bassoonist at City of Leeds Youth Orchestra (1983 - 85) and as a chorister at St Edmund's, Parish Church Choir, Roundhay, Leeds (1977 - 83).

Education
Stephen's schooling took place at Chetham's School of Music (1985 - 87). Stephen's graduate studies took place at Magdalene College, Cambridge, where he gained a BA (Hons) and became an Associate of the Royal College of Organists (1992). In 1993 Stephen became a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists. Stephen then studied conducting at the Sweenlinck Conservatorium, Amsterdam (1993 - 96).
