Gwenllian currently plays 2nd oboe and cor anglais forTeatro Marrucino Opera Orchestra, Chieti, Italy (2007-09). In 2005 she was on trial for the Principal Oboe position of the Kwazulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra, South Africa. Despite being offered the position she decided to return to Britain and continue her freelance career.

In addition to her busy orchestral schedule, chamber music plays a very important part in Gwenllian's career. She is a member of the Aurora Ensemble, a wind quintet who have given recitals at many major British venues, including the Purcell Room, Wigmore Hall, Bridgewater Hall, St David's Hall and at most of the leading Brisith Festivals.

In 2003 the Auroras released their first CD recording Groove Merchants. They were prizewinners at the Musique d'ensemble competition at the Paris Conservatoire in 2001 and have broadcast several times on Radio 3. They run their own chamber music courses for Benslow Music Trust and Hawkwood College, Stroud and have their own education project Sounds Exciting. The group is also part of Live Music Now!

Gwenllian's operaratic repertoire includes: La Boheme, Madame Butterfly, Aida, La Traviata, Rusalka, Carmen, Ariadne auf Naxos, Figaro, Cosi Fan Tutte, Turandot, Il Matrimonio Segreto, Barber of Seville, and Magic Flute. Her ballet repertoire includes Prokfiev's Cenerentola and Coppelia.

As a chamber musician Gwenllian is also a member of the Celtica Oboe and Harp Duo whose performances include the Ripon International Festival, The Warehouse, St David's Hall, Fishguard, Swansea, Ryedale, Vale of Glamorgan, and Northern Aldeburgh Festivals. New works commissioned for duo by Huw Watkins, Enid Luff, Mervyn Burtch.


Graduate studies

Jesus College, Oxford University, BA Hons Music, 1st Class (1993 - 1996). Her postgraduate studies were completed at the Royal Academy of Music, Advanced Postgraduate Diploma and LRAM (1996 - 1997) and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Postgraduate Diploma of Orchestral Training and LGSMD (1997 - 1998).

Gwenllian was born in Pembrokeshire 1974.
