Biography

Simon has been the principal contra bassoon player with the LPO since 2002 and covers principal bassoon in the orchestra as well. He has worked with all of the leading orchestras in Great Britain, including LSO, Philharmonia, CBSO, BBCSO and RPO, on both bassoon and contra.

He works on a wide range of education projects regularly and enjoys a varied programme in his schedule, including school work and even jazz.

Orchestras: BBC Symphony Orchestra, Britten Sinfonia, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Irish Chamber Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, London Sinfonietta, London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Sessions: Cool Music Ltd.

Education
Simon was born in 1973. Simon's schooling took place at St Aidan's C of E High School, Harrogate (1984 - 1989) and Harrogate College of Arts and Technology (1989 - 1991). Simon's graduate studies took place at the Leeds College of Music (1991 - 1992) and Royal Academy of Music (scholar, 1992 - 1996).

Teachers: Sebastian New, Stephen Reay, John Orford, Gareth Newman and David Chatterton. Masterclasses with Klaus Thunemann, Martin Gatt, Pascal Gallois.
