Biography

Michelle is an experienced musician who, after having spent many years as a violin/viola teacher and fixer, has recently re-focussed her career on performing music. She graduated with a Postgraduate Diploma in Performance from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in July 2009.

Having played in string quartets since 1998, Michelle has a wealth of experience in playing chamber music and performing in that forum for weddings and functions. She is a keen chamber musician and has performed in various recitals with the Bath Spa String Quartet including performances for Bath International Music Festival and Rode Chamber Music Society. In chamber music roles, Michelle has received coaching from the Badke Quartet, the Emperor Quartet and Judith Young, former Professor of Chamber Music at RWCMD. She has also formed a duo with pianist David Price and gives regular solo performances at venues across the UK.

Michelle's orchestral work also includes Bath Philharmonia, Bath Baroque (on period instruments), New Bristol Sinfonia and numerous freelance work with orchestras and pit bands across the UK. She has accompanied the East London Sinfonia on two tours of Tuscany and had several years of orchestral experience as part of her youth orchestra and with RWCMD Symphony Orchestra. Following two tours with Hampshire Sinfonietta, Michelle was recently engaged to double violin and viola for an orchestra in the Dordogne, employed by Variations Choral Society. In addition, she has been guest leader on several occasions for the Oadby & Wigston Civic Orchestra in Leicestershire. Michelle's forthcoming professional engagements include a viola concerto performance with the Argyle String Orchestra, planned for November 2010 and a solo recital for Wiltshire Rural Music School in May 2010.

Education
Michelle's graduate studies took place at Royal Welsh College of Music cand Drama (Postgraduate Diploma, 2009)

Teachers: Joan Schmeising (formerly of Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra), Richard White, Julia Bishop (Red Priest), Lucy Gould (of the Gould Piano Trio), John Stein (former leader of Welsh National Opera) and Martin Humbey (Academy of St Martin in the Fields & English Chamber Orchestra). Michelle continues to study with Martin Humbey on viola and John Stein on violin.
