Biography
I began learning the piano and violin when I was 8 years old and within a few years, music had pretty much taken over my life! I was a member of various local orchestras and ensembles, including the Halle Youth Orchestra, and went on to read Music at the University of Manchester.
At Manchester University, I studied the violin with Julia Hanson and composition with Richard Whalley, Camden Reeves and Philip Grange.
A lot of my time at University was also spent organising and playing in the University Music Society orchestras and ensembles. I began as a concert manager and Opera Scenes Producer before taking on the position of Head Concert Manager in my final year.
As Head Concert manager, I played an important part in the organisation of the society's fifty-something concerts per year. I also organised a 90-person symphony orchestra tour in July 2011, performing Mahler's Symphony No. 5 in Heidelberg and Prague, and consequently developed an aptitude for putting on full-scale orchestral flashmobs!
