Biography
Jonathan Hennessey-Brown graduated from the Royal College of Music with Honours in 1997. He immediately embarked upon a busy freelance career working with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, Oxford Philharmonic, and numerous orchestras across the country. He has had the fortune of playing with musicians such as Placido Domingo, Sir George Solti, Lord Yehudi Menuhin and Yuri Bashmet.
Jonathan was principal cellist of the Yucatan Symphony Orchestra from 2002-2008 playing on average 50 programmes a season in his time there. The orchestra played with Cuban National Ballet and performed the traditional operatic and symphonic repertoire as well as Mexican and Latinamerican music.
Jonathan founded the string quartet Cuarteto Genesis whilst living in Mexico which played all over the country, including collaborations with the Cuarteto Latinoamericano in Merida and in the Palace of Fine Arts in Mexico City. In June 2008, Cuarteto Genesis played the two opening concerts of the International Chamber Music Series also in the Palace of Fine Arts, Mexico City.
Since his return to the UK in January 2008, Jonathan has been appointed as a member of the Carl Rosa Opera Company. Jonathan has played with the British Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, Trafalgar Sinfonia and the London Camareta. Jonathan has performed live on ITV with the likes of Meat Loaf, Rolando Villazon and Katherine Jenkins. Jonathan also played solo cello on Radio 1 for the Live Lounge with Jo Whiley. He has also played on several occasions in Lion King and Oliver! in the West End.
Jonathan formed the Santiago String Quartet which specialises in Latinamerican Music. On March 11th 2010 they played in The Purcell Room with the singer/song-writer Ana Silvera.They continue to champion Mexican, contemporary and Latinamerican string quartet repertoire in their recitals.

In 2008 Jonathan was appointed as member of Carl Rosa Orchestra and to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra list. He has also performed as Guest Principal of the Rehearsal Orchestra and Surrey Philharmonic Orchestra.

Education Jonathan was born in 1975. Jonathan's schooling took place at Cranleigh School (music scholar) 1988 - 1993, Royal Academy of Music (Junior Academy Scholar), 1991 - 1993, National Youth Orchestra. Jonathan's graduate studies took place at the Royal College of Music (BMus Hons, ARCM, 1993 - 1997).
