Biography
Siriol Hugh-Jones studied Russian and German at Newnham College, Cambridge before qualifying as a solicitor. She subsequently spent a number of years in Moscow where, in addition to pursuing her legal career, she studied cello privately with Moscow Conservatoire professor, Igor Gavrysh. At the end of 2000 she gave up law in order to devote herself entirely to her cello studies. She returned to London in 2004 and in 2007 completed a three-year performance course at the London College of Music where she studied with Bernard Gregor-Smith, while herself teaching and freelancing.

Orchestral Work
Orchestras: British Philharmonic Orchestra.

Siriol's orchestral work also includes Surrey Sinfonietta, the New Philharmonic Orchestra, Dartington Festival Orchestra, Jersey Symphony Orchestra, and freelance performances in London and the south of England. Since moving to Brighton in September 2007, Siriol has joined the Sussex Symphony Orchestra as their principal cellist.

As a chamber musician, Siriol performs with a variety of ensembles. She is a founder member of Mike Hatchard's "H Band" which made its successful debut at the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill in October, 2007. Siriol is also a founding member of the newly formed Brighton Chamber Ensemble, a mixed wind and string ensemble. Her theatre work includes performing in the band for 'Chelinot' at the Union Theatre, Waterloo in 2006.

Siriol's graduate studies took place at Cambridge University (Newnham College)
