Biography
Alex started learning the flute at the age of 8 and shortly after, began studying with Gitte Sorensen at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester. Whilst there, Alex gave many chamber and solo performances and upon leaving was awarded the Larsson Prize for an outstanding woodwind performer. She was also a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain for three years, obtaining principal position in her final year.

Alex was awarded a full scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London (2003-07) with Michael Cox and Kate Hill. She took part in many of the solo, chamber and orchestral projects and in 2006 was awarded a concerto performance. Whilst there she was also awarded the Jo Weinberg Flute Award, the Jonathan Myall Piccolo Prize and received a very highly commended in the All Flutes Plus Prize.

Concerto performances have included Vivaldi's La Notte and Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No 5 with London Concertante, the Nielson and Ibert Flute Concertos, and Malcolm Arnold's Concerto No 2, in the presence of the composer as part of his 80th birthday celebrations. Alex was part of the North-West Arts Scheme, touring and performing duo recitals with pianist, Russell Lomas.

Alex has performed with many orchestras, including the Anglia Concertante, Norfolk Symphony Orchestra and the Iceni Orchestra. More recently she has worked with the Aurora Orchestra, the Britten Sinfonia and has had trials with the BSO and BBC SO. She performed Malcolm Arnold's two flute sonatas in a festival dedicated to him in October 2008.

Alex's orchestral work also includes Britten Sinfonia (2nd Fl), London Sinfonietta, London Contemporary Orchestra (2nd Fl) and Anglia Concertante (Princ).

Alex is also on the extra list for the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

Alex is a member of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (2nd, covering Princ as required), and has had a trial with the BBC Symphony Orchestra.

Education
Alex's graduate studies took place at the Royal Academy of Music - BMus Performance with First Class Honours (2003 - 07).
