Biography
Lara studied at the Royal Northern College of Music gaining her degree and professional performance diploma, and the Manhattan School of Music where she became graduate assistant to the esteemed professor Dr Paul Cohen (with scholarship award). Following her studies in the USA Lara went on to complete her Masters degree in musicology at the University of Manchester, where her specialist research area was 'The Saxophone in Britain, c. 1860 - 1960'. She was an invited performer and lecturer at the 7th British Saxophone Congress and has contributed various articles and reviews to CASS Magazine, the publication of the British Clarinet & Saxophone Society.
Lara's first solo CD was released in March 2009 on the Signum label, and was selected as 'Presenter's Choice' for Instrumental and Chamber Music by Classic FM Magazine, May 2009. Her solo performances have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3, Classic FM, RTE Lyric FM and radio stations abroad including NPR in the USA.
Lara has performed concertos throughout the UK at various venues including the Bridgewater Hall Manchester and St David's Hall Cardiff. She has a long-standing duo partnership with pianist Jeremy Young with whom she has given recitals throughout the UK.

Orchestral Work
Lara's orchestral work includes the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Opera North Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Welsh National Opera Orchestra, Cape Town National Opera, and the Cornelius Cardew Ensemble.
Lara's freelance orchestral work includes bookings to play Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Baritone Saxophones. Many of her orchestral performances have been broadcast, recorded or televised. She has performed at venues throughout the UK including the Royal Opera House, Royal Festival Hall, BBC Studios Manchester, Bridgewater Hall Manchester, Philharmonic Hall Liverpool, Leeds Town Hall, CIA Cardiff, St David's Hall Cardiff, Huddersfield Town Hall, Cheltenham Town Hall, the Oldham Festival, Wales Millennium Centre, the Festival Theatre Edinburgh, and many others.
Education
Lara's graduate studies took place at the Royal Northern College of Music GMus (Hons) RNCM; PPRNCM and also the Manhattan School of Music. Lara also holds a MusM (Musicology) from the University of Manchester.
