Professional Chamber Music
Angela is a British violinist of Korean origin. She completed her BMus(Hons) in Violin Performance, gaining a distinction in her final graduation recital. She is now pursuing her masters degree in Orchestral Artistry - a specialist course in association with the London Symphony Orchestra, at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama which is generously funded by the Leverhulme Arts Scholarship, under the tutelage of Professors Krzysztof Smietana and Boris Kucharsky.
Angela is a well-established orchestral player. She led and co-led a number of orchestras in Europe as well as performing as a soloist. In 2011 she was invited to play with Fundacao Orquestra Estudio, in Portugal as a co-leader of the orchestra and as a leader of the string camerata. During her time in Portugal she was invited frequently to co-lead the Orquestra de Universidade do Minho. In 2012, she had the privilege to perform Penderecki's symphony under the baton of Maestro Penderecki himself in Germany.
As an active chamber musician she performs regularly with her string quartet in masterclasses; including those with the Chillingirian Quartet, Wihan Quartet, Endelion Quartet, Kopelmann Quartet and the Danish Quartet, to name a few. Previously, she was a member of the Armonia Quartet, who were appointed as the string-quartet-in-residence for the South West Youth orchestra. Since returning to the UK, she has been the 1st violinist of the Haru Quartet, who won the John Barbirolli Competition in 2014 and becoming a finalist in Cavatina Chamber Music Competition in 2011 and 2014 exclusively. She also took part in the Latin American Music Festival 2013, performing with the Festival String Quartet.
Angela took part in number of education programmes which includes 'FunHarmonics' activity provided by the London Philharmonic Orchestra - a programme to have a go at playing an orchestral instruments, and 'Raising the Roof' - an outreach programme for schools provided by Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.
Angela is a recipient of the Henry Wood Award, Leverhulme Arts Scholarship and is funded by number of private sectors.
