Biography
Ian is an accomplished woodwind doubler/tripler and has played flute, clarinet and saxophones in over 300 productions including Sweeney Todd, Broadway Pirates, Orpheus in the Underworld, Mapp and Lucia: The Musical, La Boheme, On The Town, Grease, West Side Story, Cabaret and Crazy for You.
Ian has MD'd various shows including Jesus Christ Superstar, Return to The Forbidden Planet and Goldilocks (panto), for which he also did the arrangements.
Ian is a member of the Pentland Trio. with Fiona Nisbett (cello) and Stephen Lethbridge (piano).
Ian was principal clarinet with The National Youth Wind Band of Scotland in 1982, and is a regular player and deputy with several jazz and big band outfits, playing most recently with the Urban Big Band

Education
Ian's schooling took place at Craigmount High School (1977-1983) Ian's graduate studies took place at London College of Music (LLCM Teachers Diploma, ALCM Clarinet Performance, 1983-1986) and the Royal Military School of Music (Certificate in Band Studies, 2001)
