Biography
Katherine Lacy joined the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra in 2005. She is Principal Bass Clarinet with the orchestra, and also plays second and principal clarinet with them on a regular basis. Katherine enjoys freelancing whenever possible and since joining the RLPO has worked with the Philharmonia, London Sinfonietta, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Northern Sinfonia, London Chamber Orchestra and Manchester Camerata. Katherine is currently on trial as Principal Clarinet with the Ulster Orchestra.
Before joining the RLPO Katherine freelanced in London and studied at the Royal Academy of Music.
Katherine is a busy chamber musician; as well as being a member of the RLPO's wind quintet, she regularly performs as part of a trio and as a soloist. She has performed chamber music in venues including St Martin in the Fields, St James Picadilly, the Sage Gateshead and the Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool and in 2006 took part in an evening recital at the Wigmore Hall with the Linos Wind Quintet.
Whilst at the Royal Academy of Music, Katherine gave the world premiere of 'Veni Creator Spiritus', a duet for flute and bass clarinet, by Maxwell-Davies with renowned flautist Sebastian Bell. She was also chosen to perform Stravinsky's 'Ebony Concerto' with the RAM wind ensemble and Mozart's clarinet concerto with the RAM Sinfonia in London and Paris.
Katherine has also appeared as a soloist with the Wrexham Symphony Orchestra, Opus One Chamber Orchestra, National Chamber Orchestra of Wales, Lydian Orchestra in Kent and the Maerkischer Kreis Youth Orchestra in Germany.

Education Katherine's schooling took place at St David's Comprehensive School, Wrexham (1992 - 1997) and Chetham's School of Music, Manchester (Sixth Form, 1997 - 1999). Katherine's graduate studies took place at Royal Academy of Music, Postgraduate (2003-2004), Bmus Hons Class 1 (1999 - July 2003). Prizes and Awards
