Biography
David enjoys a busy chamber and freelance orchestral career, and is increasing demand as a soloist.
In May 2007 he was invited, together with Tom Poster (piano) and Tom Hankey (violin), to perform Beethoven's Triple Concerto with Vladimir Ashkenazy , for the 5th Anniversary celebration concert of Southbank Sinfonia - of whom he was co-principal cellist in 2006.
He has also performed concertos by Haydn, Elgar, Schumann, Dvorak and Shostakovich with various orchestras throughout the UK and France. This includes performances of Shostakovich's Cello Concerto no.1 at the St Tropez Music Festival in June 2003, and Dvorak's Cello Concerto with the Southbank Sinfonia at St Martin-in-the-Fields in June 2006.
His other main passion is chamber music. He is a founder member of The Lale String Quartet (www.lalequartet.com), which has a vibrant and varied concert schedule - contemporary music being a particular inspiration.
Since leaving the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2005, where he studied with Louise Hopkins, David has worked regularly with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, amongst others.
