Biography
Malcolm studied Sussex University and completed his post graduate studies at King's College London where he received his Phd.

He is a busy accompanist and has recorded CDs for the Sain and Meridian labels.

Malcolm is Research Associate and Associate Lecturer with the Open University and h has contributed articles on 19th and 20th century music to The New Grove II, MGG, and Collins Classical Music Encyclopaedia, with forthcoming books on Wagner and Berthold Goldschmidt.

As a musicologist and critic, Malcolm, is a regular contributor to the musical press and leading academic publications. His reviews and articles appear in journals including Musical Opinion, Tempo, Classical Music, Classical Piano, Opera Now, Music and Vision, The Times Supplements, Musical Times and The Strad.

Malcolm is regularly commissioned to write program notes for concerts in major venues and music societies across Britain, as well as sleeve liner notes for various leading international record labels - please visit Malcolm's web site, concertnotes.fsnet.co.uk for more details.

As well as contributing articles to publications, Malcolm is the editor of Arietta, the Journal of the Beethoven Piano Society of Europe, and assistant editor of EPTA's Piano Journal and guest editor of the issue of 'Musical Performance' on the accordion.

Malcolm is a frequent contributor to the web site Music and Vision Daily.

As a student, Malcolm was assistant conductor and repetiteur for New Sussex Opera (1980-1, Fidelio and Boris Godunov), Assistant Conductor and Repetiteur for Thameside Opera, 1983-93, (repertoire included 18th and 20th century operas by Maxwell Davies, Walton, Holst, Stephen Oliver and UK premieres of operas by Gluck, Thea Musgrave and others).

Malcolm is a coach for singing courses at Goldsmiths College and South Hampstead High School.
