Biography
Steve is currently principal clarinet of the English Symphony Orchestra and the English Symphony Orchestra Contemporary Ensemble.

Steve's Show Work includes Les Miserables, Evita, Porgy & Bess, Mary Poppins, White Christmas the Musical, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, West Side Story and Funny Girl. Steve is also a member of the new theatre concert orchestra, The Showbiz Pops Orchestra. Theatre work includes previous performances in HMS Pinafore and Pirates of Penzance with Carl Rosa Opera Company.

Steve is the conductor of the Bourne Orchestra. The Orchestra performed for the Musical Showcase, at the opening of Westfield Shopping Centre, Shepherds Bush, starring Leona Lewis. The Orchestra has also recently performed along side Lemar, Estelle and Johnny Vaughan. Click here to watch the Bourne Orchestra.

Steve is also the Musical Director of the innovative team-building programme, Orchestrate. This powerful experience has toured all over Europe, including Valencia, Vienna, Barcelona, Berlin, Chantilly, Frankfurt and Seville, as well as the Royal Opera House, London's Excel Centre and the Barbican.

Steve's studio work has included television appearances on the Smash Hits Poll Winners Party, the ITV Record of the Year and Britain's Got Talent. He has performed with various artists including McFly, Leona Lewis, Lemar, London Community Gospel Choir, Alison Moyet, Lucie Silvas, Estelle and Paul Potts.

Steve's chamber music experience includes work with, The Bourne Ensemble, The Bochmann String Quartet, The Fibonacci Sequence and ESO.

Orchestral Work
Orchestras: English Symphony Orchestra, London Pops Orchestra, National Youth Orchestra, Orchestrate, Showbiz Pops Orchestra. Shows: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Les Miserables, Mary Poppins, War Horse.

Steve's orchestral work also includes Young Guns Orchestra, English Symphony Orchestra (2004-), Cyprus Chamber Orchestra (sub-principal/Eb 2000-2001), London City Opera, Central Festival Opera, London Soloists Chamber Orchestra, Brandenburg Sinfonia and Symphony Orchestras, First Act Opera (clarinet/bass&sax), London Orchestra da Camera (Cl & basset horn), Co-Opera (Cl & bass) and Pimlico Opera.

Education
Steve's schooling took place at Llandaff Cathedral School, (1985 - 1991, Scholarship and Head Chorister). He then went on to Wells Cathedral School (1991 - 1996, Specialist's place and DFE Scholarship). During his time at Wells, Steve was also a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain (1994 - 1997). Steve's graduate studies took place at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (1996 - 2000, Scholarship), Royal College of Music (Post grad, 2003)

  • 2nd Prize - Cass Young Clarinettist of the Year (2000).
  • The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Wind, Brass and Percussion Orchestral Prize (2000)
