Biography
Scottish oboist Michael O'Donnell is a member of the Irish Chamber Orchestra. He graduated from the Royal College of Music in 2006 with 1st class honours and whilst at the RCM won the Knights of the Round Table and Wind Chamber Music Prizes.
Michael was brought up in Scone, Perthshire. He took up the oboe aged 13 and two years later gained piano and oboe scholarships to attend the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama Junior Department. During these years he played principal oboe and cor anglais with the National Youth Orchestras of Scotland and Great Britain. Michael moved to London in 2002 to study with Christopher Cowie and Gareth Hulse.
Recent orchestral engagements include guest 2nd oboe with the, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Philharmonia, Northern Sinfonia and London Symphony Orchestra and guest principal oboe appearances with the London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia, Royal Ballet Sinfonia, Northern Sinfonia and City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

Education
Michael's schooling took place at Perth Academy (1996 - 2002), Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama Junior Department (1998 - 2002). Michael's graduate studies took place at Royal College of Music (MMus 2006 - 2008, and BMus (Hons) 2002 - 2006).
