Ruth was one of the two horn players chosen to represent Ireland in the Sydney Olympic Band for the opening ceremony of the Sydney Olympics in 2000. She is also a member of the brass group Dublin Brass

Education
Ruth's graduate studies took place at Guildhall School of Music and Drama (1998 - 2003). Ruth was accepted to do a postgraduate course both at the Guidhall School of Music and Drama where she completed her BMus degree in 2003. She was also accepted to the Conservatoire in Amsterdam for postgraduate but Ruth completed her Masters degree at Guildhall in 2003.
