Biography

Since 1993, Efthymios has enjoyed a highly successful solo career, performing in the United States and in many European countries, including Greece, France, Belgium, Germany, Holland, Italy, Czech Republic, England and Ireland.

Efthymios has also played in various international music festivals, including the Summit Music Festival in New York, United States, the Vertisko Music Festival in Greece, the Prades Music Festival in France and the Salthouse Music Festival and the King's Lynn Music Festival in the UK. Efthymios's solo repertoire is vast and highly varied, extending to all musical idioms.

Also a keen chamber musician, Efthymios is a member of the Ad Libitum Piano Trio and the Duo De Basl, a harp and violin duo. He has made several recordings with Brian Davis (harpist) and various other chamber ensembles. Efthymios is also the leader of the St Nicholas Concert Orchestra in Great Yarmouth.

In 2005 Efthymios began teaching the violin at the University of East Anglia, Norwich. In addition to his teaching, Efthymios, who has recently completed a PhD, has since given lectures at the univeristy on his various areas of research and interest: Violin Pedagogy, O. Ševčik's Violin Treatise and Violin Methodology from its Origins to 1850. He has also lectured at the University of Macedonia and at St Paul's Higher School in Thessaloniki, Greece.

Also a chamber music teacher, Efthymios has taught in the Contemporary and F. Nakas Conservatories, Thessaloniki. In addition to his instrumental teaching, Efthymios is also an international music examiner for the International Baccalaureate Organization (I.B.O.) and is a supervisor of Cambridge University's E.S.O.L. examinations in Greece.

Efthymios's graduate studies took place at Hogeschool voor Muziek en Theater, Rotterdam (Bachelor's Degree in Music-Performance, Violin, 1998 - 1999; MMus in Solo Violin, 1999-2001; MMus in Chamber Music for Violin and Harp and Piano Trio (expected end November 2008)); University of East Anglia, U.K (PhD in Music, 2004-08)
