As a soloist Jani has given performances of Bottessini's Introduction and Gavotte with RAM Soloists and Ditterdorf and Bottessini's concertos. He has also given recitals in Helsinki, Oulu and Tallinn.
Jani's chamber ensemble performances include the Viitasaari Contemporary Music Festival, April Jazz Festival (Espoo, Finland), RAM Soloists, and Sinfonia Nova (Resident Ensemble in the Swiss Church).
Jani has made many recordings and broadcasts with the Helsinki Philharmonic and the London Symphony Orchestra. He has recorded a CD of Contemporary double bass solo and chamber music.

EducationJani's graduate studies took place at the Royal Academy of Music, the Sibelius Academy (Finland), and the Helsinki Conservatory.
