Hannah Rankin graduated with a Masters in Bassoon from the Royal Academy of Music in the summer of 2014. During her studies she had the pleasure of studying under John Orford, Amy Harman and Daniel Jemison.

Hannah is passionate about all areas of music but especially Opera and Ballet and has had the pleasure to have worked with the likes of the St Petersburg Ballet and Scottish Opera, as well as playing in the Ryedale Festival Opera Orchestra. During her studies she also played in the opera orchestras of the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland covering such repertoire as Eugene Onegin (Tchaikovsky), The Magic Flute (Mozart) and Cendrillon (Massenet).

Her other passion is contemporary music. She has performed with various contemporary ensembles including Red Note and more recently with the Academy's Manson Ensemble under the baton of Franck Ollu, celebrating Simon Bainbridge's 60th birthday. She has also performed solo and duo works by fellow students as part of the Plug Festival in Glasgow and during an event at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, London.

As well as enjoying contemporary music, she is also greatly interested in working with music and education and has worked with various orchestras on projects around London and in Scotland including BBC SSO, English Touring Opera, LPO, City of London Sinfonia and St Martin's in the Fields.

Hannah's studies were kindly supported by the Dewar Arts Awards, The Caird Travelling Scholarship and the Royal Academy of Music.
