Biography
Jake Rea is an experienced orchestral violinist. Over the part 15 years he has played for orchestras, education projects, chamber ensembles and recording sessions across the UK and Europe.

Jake was co-principal 2nd of the English Chamber Orchestra from 1995-2003. He has been leader for Pegasus Opera, and for a number of Royal Opera House productions, such as Wind in the Willows, Time Code and Pinocchio. Principal 2nd work includes English Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra of St John's, City of Oxford Orchestra, London Festival Orchestra and New Queen's Hall Orchestra.

Jake's orchestral work also includes tutti 1st violin work with Britten Sinfonia, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, City of London Sinfonia, Duetsche Kammerakademie, Guildhall Strings, Irish Chamber Orchestra, London Chamber Orchestra, London Musici, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Sinfonia 21, Ulster Orchestra, Zurich Chamber Orchestra.

Chamber Music includes work with Camarada Ensemble, Geimini, Lehar Ensemble and Lontano. Broadcasts include BBC Radio 3 (including live Proms), RAI Television (Italy), BBC Television, ORF Radio (Austria), TV Nova (Czech Republic).

West End Shows include Evita, Les Misérables and Miss Saigon.

Recordings include the Arnold Quartets (Chandos); Jacob and Moiran Quartets; Rawsthorne Quartet and String Trio (ASV).

Jake is an experienced session player and has been involved in numerous film and pop session engagements.

Education
Jake's graduate studies took place at Royal Academy of Music (1987-1991) and Prague Academy of Music (1993-1995).

Teachers: Jaroslav Vanecek, Ivan Straus (Suk Quartet), Levon Chilingirian, Joan Dickson. Chamber Music Studies with the Borodin String Quartet.
