Biography
Nancy specialises in performing contemporary music, and has had works written for her by composers around the world. She has performed and recorded for the BBC, and in festivals and concert halls throughout the UK and abroad.

As a respected exponent of contemporary music she is principal flute of some of the UK's leading contemporary ensembles including Music Projects/London, the Matrix Ensemble, The Almeida Ensemble and Topologies. Nancy is a member of Apartment House and has played for productions at The National Theatre.

Nancy is also a member of the trio Pipe Dreams with flautist Anna Pope and pianist Helen Crayford

Orchestral Work
Orchestras: Apartment House, Endymion Ensemble, Lontano, Matrix Ensemble, Philharmonia Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Sinfonia ViVA. Sessions: London Metropolitan Orchestras Ltd, London Telefilmonic Orchestra.

Nancy's orchestral work also includes Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Expose, Circle, Uroboros.

Nancy's theatre work includes 'Les Miserables' and 'Phantom' and she has been a regular member of the National Theatre Orchestras including 'Red Balloon (NT), 'Lady in the Dark', 'Invention of Love', Oklahoma!

Nancy's studio work includes sessions for Tanya Davall and Ann Manly.

Education
Nancy's graduate studies took place at the University of Michigan (1970 - 1976), Pennsylvania State University (1974 - 1975) and the Royal Academy of Music (1976 - 1977).

  • Pennsylvania State University Concerto Competition - winner (1975)
  • University of Michigan Concerto Competition - winner (1976)
  • Darmstadt Kranichsteiner Prize for Interpretation (1984)
  • Nancy was awarded an ARAM in 1997

Teachers: Clement Barone, Bernard Goldberg, Nelson Hauenstein, Keith Bryan, Gareth Morris and Sebastian Bell, Pierre-Yves Artaud. Masterclasses with Thomas Nyfenger and Marcel Moyse.
