Daniel's recording of the Brahms Clarinet Trio is from a live performance with the Friedrich Trio, Lynette Stulting (piano), Jacqueline Johnson (cello), recorded on the 12th February 2006, at Challow Park Recital Hall, Oxfordshire. Biography He played principal clarinet on the critically-acclaimed Mackerras recording of Janacek's Jenufa for Chandos and has played bass clarinet in several operas, including Berg's Wozzeck. Daniel has given solo recitals in the Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room and St. John's, Smith Square. He now has a chamber group, the Friedrich Trio with Jacqueline Johnson (cello) and Lynette Stulting (piano) — hear them live in the MP3 Window — and occasionally plays in chamber groups with members of the WNO Orchestra. Daniel's career has included three periods working abroad. He lived in Paris from 1989 - 1991 as a full—time orchestral player (see below) and from 1994 - 1996 Daniel was employed by the Faroe Islands Music School, where he took part in the thriving musical life of the island: as instrumentalist, conductor and composer/arranger, working with local musicians as well as visitors from abroad. He was also the co-ordinator of the Faroe Islands Folk Music Festival in 1996. After this time, he and his wife moved to Norway, where he took part in the lively musical life in and around Bergen. Alongside his flourishing playing career, Daniel runs a concert promotion company, Springline Arts, based in Oxfordshire, which aims to bring top-quality music to the countryside. Orchestral Work Daniel's orchestral work also includes the Orchestre Symphonique d'Europe, playing principal clarinet from 1989 to 1990. During this period, he also played with the Orchestra of Opera Comique and the Orchestra of Tokyo Ballet at the Vienna State Opera House. From 1996 - 1998, Daniel worked in Norway, playing bass clarinet with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, and principal clarinet with Bergen Opera, West Norway Opera, and Collegium Musicum Bergen. Daniel has also worked a great deal in the UK with The Royal Opera, BBC Ulster Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Bournemouth Sinfonietta, Britten Sinfonia, London Festival Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, D'Oyly Carte, Scottish Ballet, Moscow City Ballet, and the Royal Shakespeare Company.
