Reviews

Geoffrey Norris, in the Musical Times
"The work needs a distinctly more polished interpretation to disguise its lack of musical substance and sprawling proportions. Or a little more humor maybe? This is what made Joseph Sander's performance of Lechetizky's dreadful variations on Beethoven's Andante favori so endearing: his oboe sound sparkles with wit, his tone has a wide range of color and his attitude is readily communicative. He provided the most enjoyable playing of the evening"
Joseph Sanders performed Moscheles Concertino for flute, oboe, and piano with assisting artists at Burgh House, Hampstead on November 23.

Max Loppert (FT, from a review of a Park Lane Group recital at the Purcell Room)
"Joseph Sanders, an oboist who is not just an accomplished executant, but a musician of uncommon quality. His programme, lively and interesting (Lutyens, Britten, two movements of Koechlin's Op58... had as its common factor a call for unfetterd technique. What I appreciated even more was the distinct cast of Mr Sanders performing personality, unexaggerated, even undersated yet full of poetic insight."
