Biography
Wei Wei is an active freelancer working throughout the UK, and her range of experience has accumulated into a portfolio career. She won the Howard Hanson scholarship to study at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, and graduated with Distinction. Subsequently, she completed her Postgraduate Diploma at the Royal Academy of Music studying with Matthew Souter and Baroque viola with Katherine McGillivray.

As an orchestral player, she gained experience working under conductors such as Mendi Rodin, Edward Gardner, Yuri Termikanov, Vernon Handley and Sir Colin Davis. Being an active chamber musician, she has received coachings and worked with various members of the Borodin, Tokyo, Amadeus, Chilingirian, and Endellion Quartets. She has performed numerous orchestral, chamber and solo concerts in various parts of the world, and in concert venues including Wigmore Hall and Carnegie Hall.

During her time with Southbank Sinfonia (SbS) as rotating principal, she played in Side-by-Side concerts with the Academy of St Martin's in-the-fields, the Royal Opera House Orchestra and Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. She performed a solo concerto with the orchestra, as well as chamber concerts in the Linbury Studio and Crush Room at the Royal Opera House.

Orchestras: BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Brandenburg Sinfonia, English National Ballet, Guildford Philharmonic Orchestra, Lancashire Sinfonietta, London Concert Orchestra, London Musical Arts Orchestra (LMA Orchestra), Mid Wales Opera Festival, Opera Brava, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Southbank Sinfonia, Ulster Orchestra. Shows: Royal Shakespeare Company.

Wei Wei's orchestral work also includes Charities Philharmonia, City Chamber Ensemble, Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Concert Orchestra, and numerous recordings including for BBC Radio 3 and Naxos.

Wei Wei's opera and ballet work also includes Almeida Opera, British Youth Opera at Peacock Theatre, European Opera Centre, Glyndebourne Opera (with Southbank Sinfonia), Hampstead Garden Opera, Opera Project, Royal Opera House (Wagner Festival), and Second Movement Opera at Covent Garden Film Studios.

Education
Wei Wei's graduate studies took place at the Royal Academy of Music (PGDip, LRAM), (2003-2005) Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester, New York, USA (BMus), (1999-2003)

Prizes and Awards
Wei Wei was the recipient of the Catherine Filene Shouse Arts Leadership Program Certificate, at the Eastman School of Music, USA.

Teachers: Matthew Souter, Hartmut Rohde, Katherine McGillivray, Soon Lee Lim and George Taylor. Wei Wei has participated in masterclasses with Jerry Kosmala, Garfield Jackson, Susie Meszaros, Yuko Inoue, John Graham and Simon Rowland-Jones.
