Biography
Alan has worked on numerous of West End shows, including Miss Saigon, Carmen Jones, High Society, Me & My Girl, West Side Story, Wonderful Town, and Pygmalion.

Alan has played electric bass in a number of works by contemporary composers, including the 1992 televised Prom of Alexander Goehr's The Death of Moses. Alan was also active in the Scottish Jazz scene during the early 1980s, chiefly with the Tommy Smith Quartet, but also with his own quintet.

Orchestral Work
Orchestras: English National Ballet, London Concert Orchestra, London Sinfonietta, Royal Ballet Sinfonia, Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Thames Festival Orchestra, Worthing Symphony Orchestra. Shows: National Theatre Orchestra.

Education
Alan was born in 1957. Alan's graduate studies took place at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama (1976 - 1979). His postgraduate studies took place at the National Centre for Orchestral Studies (1979 - 1980).
