Biography

Fiona is working in Santiago, Chile until further notice. Please refer to us for dates when she may be available for work in the UK.

As a chamber musician Fiona is a founder member of Canteloube (Wind Trio), selected for the Tunnell Trust Chamber Music course in May 2005, Octanphonie (Wind Octet) - Royal Over Sea League Competition Finalists March 2005, and The Zelenka Obsession, a group formed in 2008 with the aim of performing/recording all the Zelenka Trio Sonatas.

As a soloist Fiona's engagements include:

  • Mozart Bassoon Concerto, April 22nd 2006, St Mary's Church, South Woodford with the Cantori Chamber Orchestra.
  • Hummel Grand Concerto for Bassoon, September 2004 with the Southbank Sinfonia.
  • Francaix Bassoon Concerto, Final year Undergraduate major project.

Fiona's other Jazz/Folk Commercial Recordings include work as a bassoonist on the following albums:

  • Paul Moseley "Then I woke Up and it Was All a Dream"

Her professional Jazz Piano engagements have included work with Soweto Kinch and Usseff for ITV as well as a wide range of background and function work.

Fiona has performed at the Halifax Festival, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the National Gallery, Lauderdale House, Paxos Festival 2003.

Fiona has taken part in Sit-in Schemes with the London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra and City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

Fiona's educational and outreach experience includes work with the Southbank Sinfonia Educational Projects 2004, Wider Opportunities Project (Richmond Music Trust), London Nursery School Workshop 2003 (Fiatti), Royal College of Music Hall of Residence staff member (2002-2003) Staff Membr of Higher Education Summer School with the RCM (2002-2003), Elastic Band tour of Cork Schools (2002). Fiona also planned and directed an educational workshop in Carlisle Cathedral for 300 children with Octanphonie Wind Octet in the summer of 2005.

Fiona is also a driver with a clean license.

Fiona's orchestral work also includes New Professionals Chamber Orchestra (Principal), BBC Philharmonic Orchestra (Guest Principal), 'Walker Dance Park Music' Dance Company, BBC Symphony Orchestra (2nd bassoon), Hallé Orchestra, Glyndebourne Touring Opera (3rd bassoon), London Soloists Orchestra, European Union Chamber Orchstra, Telford New Symphony Orchestra, Solaris Ensemble, Tempus Chamber Orchestra, Camerata of London, Forest Philharmonic, Guildford Philharmonic, London Contemporary Music Group, Tempus Chamber Orchestra, Pegasus Opera, Kentish Opera, The Warehouse Ensemble, London Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, Britten-Pears Orchestra/Contemporary Ensembles, Orchestras and Ensembles of Birmingham Conservatoire and the Royal College of Music. She has also played with the Apollo Chamber Orchestra.

Fiona is on the extra lists for the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

Education
Fiona's graduate studies took place at Birmingham Conservatoire (between 1997 - 2001: BMus (Hons) First Class) and Royal College of Music (between 2001-2003: Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Orchestral Studies).
