Biography
Lucy's freelance orchestral work in the UK includes a live recording of Mozart's Requiem for Hyperion Records (in aid of the Tsunami DEC Appeal) with performers drawn from the BBC Symphony Orchestra, LPO, LSO and RPO, the World Premiere of Guy Woolfenden's Sounds and Sweet Airs - A Shakespeare Journey with the St James's Players, and orchestral concerts at the Royal Festival Hall accompanying soloists Ann Murray and Nicola Benedetti.

Whilst studying, Lucy was principal and second clarinet with the Royal Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra, RAM Manson Ensemble for Contemporary Music and the RAM Concert Orchestra conducted by Sir Colin Davis, 2004-2005. She was also a regular member of all ensembles at the Royal Northern College of Music including performing Gruber's Frankenstein! at the Wigmore Hall with the RNCM New Ensemble and concerts and recordings with the Chamber Orchestra, Opera Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra and Wind Orchestra.

Lucy is a member of the European Union Youth Wind Orchestra and has toured Europe as Solo and Principal Clarinet with them.

Lucy's chamber music experience includes being a founder member of Trio Animé, a clarinet, violin/viola and piano ensemble formed at the RAM in 2004. Lucy has also performed recitals as a Duo with pianist Keith Ford. Current projects with him include recording the premiere of Cursive Conversations for the American born composer MG Mills.

Other chamber music work includes performing works for clarinet and percussion, clarinet and bassoon, clarinet and voice, clarinet and strings; working with wind trio, quintet and octets; giving a variety of educational workshops and carrying out experiments into acoustics of the wind quartet with the Physics department at Cardiff University.

Lucy's concerto performances include Weber Clarinet Concerto No.2 with the Cherwell Orchestra (February 2005), Mozart Clarinet Concerto with the Beauchamp Sinfonietta (November 2004), and Weber Clarinet Concerto No.1 with the Midland Youth Orchestra (2000).

Lucy's orchestral work includes Amadeus Orchestra, St James' Players, Cherwell Orchestra, Beauchamp Sinfonietta, Banbury Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble Oriflamme, Oxford Sinfonia, Warwickshire Symphony Orchestra.

Education
Lucy's graduate studies took place at the Royal Academy of Music, MMus with Merit (2004-05), the Royal Northern College of Music, BMus (Hons) (2000-04).

Prizes and Awards

  • Denne Gilkes Memorial Fund - award towards purchase of Eb clarinet (2003)
  • Finalist in the Malcolm Arnold Competition at the RNCM (2001)

  • Newport Foundation - six separate awards towards musical study costs (1998-2004)
  • Winner of the Alcester Young Musician of the Year Competition (1999)

Lucy has participated in Masterclasses at the RAM given by Andrew Marriner, Alan Hacker and Michael Collins, and at the RNCM by Walter Boeykens, Michael Collins, Alan Hacker, Anthony Pay, Diane Cawein, Frank Kowalsky and James Campbell.
