Toby's education work includes BBC Symphony Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Milton Keynes City Orchestra and Goldfield Ensemble.

Toby has also successfully auditioned for and been offered extra work with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

Toby was appointed Sub-Principal Cello with the Northern Ballet Sinfonia in May 2014.

Toby is also currently on trial for Sub-Principal no.2 with Royal Ballet Sinfonia and was recently one of the final two short listed candidates for Assistant Principal no.3 with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. He has since accepted the offer of a trial for this Orchestra's vacant Sub-Principal no.4 position. Work in recent years has also included a Tutti trial for the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, with whom he continues to work as an extra.

Toby works for many of the country's major orchestras including the Philharmonia, BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestras, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and City of London Sinfonia. Toby also holds regular positions with several freelance Orchestras including no.2 cello for both Bath Philharmonia and the Mozart Festival Orchestra. Toby regularly works as a principal for these orchestras as well as Northern Ballet Sinfonia and Royal Ballet Sinfonia as part of his no.2 trial. He is a former principal cellist with De Havilland Philharmonic and other principal work includes Milton Keynes City Orchestra, Cyprus Sinfonia, Holst Orchestra and Kings Chamber Orchestra.

As a chamber musician Toby is cellist in the Goldfield Ensemble, (goldfieldensemble.co.uk) resident at Bury Farm Arts centre in 2014. The Goldfield Ensemble recorded & released for Minabel in 2013 and gave the UK Premiere of Dai Fujikura's 'Halcyon' at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival last November. In 2014 they have performed at Kings Place, York University and for the English Music Festival as well as their residency concerts at Stapleford Granary in the Bury Farm Arts centre. Toby has also performed as soloist all of the major cello concertos with various orchestras, but most recently Haydn's C Major Concerto with the Rosemary Consort in May 2013.

Education/Outreach experience

Toby has had a wide experience of performances and workshops for Schools in an Orchestral, Chamber and Solo capacity. Toby has planned and directed many string quartet concert/demonstrations for schools as well as countless solo cello demonstrations.

Teaching experience

Toby is currently a chamber music coach at the North Herts Music Schools' Saturday morning music school as well as a visiting cello teacher at The Royal Masonic School for Girls and Kingshott Preparatory School.
