Biography
Helen Twomey trained under the direction of Gillian Findlay and Richard Crabtree at Trinity College of Music, London from 1995-99. Since graduating, Helen's varied career has taken her to Denmark, Sweden, USA, Jersey and the Netherlands playing both violin and electric violin. Her current schedule includes working with orchestras and chamber ensembles throughout London and the UK, one half of a violin and piano duo, collaborating occasionally with singer-songwriters and has also been asked to lead London's Bloomsbury Chamber Orchestra on occasions as a guest leader.

She features as a solo violinist and violist on Daniel Ward-Murphy's debut album "Until the Morning Light" released in November 2008 by Sellaband.com. The song "I Think I Made You Smile" from this album has already seen airplay on BBC1's Waterloo Road (Series 7, Episode 9) and Channel 4's Hollyoaks (Episode shown in the UK on Monday 25th July 2011). Helen has also worked with Ellie Williams on her debut album "Unseen", which was released in October 2009 (tracks "Broken" and "Lay"). Both albums are available through sellaband.com.

Helen is one half of the violin and piano duo "The Cat and the Fiddle", established in 2011, working alongside Pianist Eleanor Tagart. Their active schedule ranges from recitals, weddings to corporate and private functions.

As a student, Helen was involved with Trinity College of Music Sinfonia, Trinity College of Music Symphony Orchestra, Trinity College of Music Opera Orchestra, London Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, Blackhorse Chamber Orchestra, Surrey Sinfonietta and helped in the initial stages to establish the London Charity Orchestra. She played regularly in college lunchtime recitals, gaining experience in solo performance.

Education
Helen was born in Yorkshire 1976. Helen's schooling took place at Nailsea School and Backwell School in North Somerset. Helen's graduate studies took place at Trinity College of Music (1995 - 1999) BMus (TCM) and at the University of London Institute of Education (2000) PGCE, with Qualified Teacher Status being obtained in August 2001. In March 2004 Helen received a LTCL in Music performance.

Helen has attended masterclasses with Michael Bochmann (Bach's Solo sonatas and Partitas for violin); Richard Markson (Sevcik op.3 Bowing workshop); and Christopher Hirons (Franck Sonata for violin and Piano).
