Solo Violin, Orpheus Papafilippou, Brunelleschi Ensemble

The Brunelleschi String Quartet was formed in 2004 by its leader Orpheus Papafilippou. It is an exciting group passionate about chamber music. They have a wide and interesting repertoire from the purity of the Early Baroque through Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Dvorak, Shostakovich to compositions especially written for them. The aspiration for beauty of line and warmth of tone are a constant in their performances.

Appearances include the Royal Festival Hall as part of the RFH Revival, the re-opening celebrations of St Martin-in-the-Fields and the Queen's House in the presence of Prince Phillip.

They have also given recitals at Festivals and Clubs throughout England, the South East and London. In February 2008 they gave the World Premier of Heart Has No Measure by Denise Mangiardi written for them. They are currently preparing a new string quartet by Aziza Sadikova.

In addition to giving concerts they perform at awards ceremonies, functions, weddings and parties. Appearances include performing for Royalty, English Pen, the Mayor of the City of London and for Cabinet Ministers and Members of Parliament in Whitehall. They have a wide repertoire for these occasions from the baroque, light classics to jazz standards, tangos to west end songs and are always willing to arrange works upon request.

The Brunelleschi Ensemble a slightly larger format, based on the string quartet, gives concerts of larger chamber works and baroque concerti and arias, with the additional tonal resources of a violin, viola, flute, harpsichord/piano and mezzo soprano.

Recently they gave a series of performances of Vivaldi's Four Seasons including concerts at St James's Piccadilly and Charlton House. Future engagements include their Baroque Extravaganza at the Arthur Cotterell Theatre in Kingston, St Paul's Church Covent Garden and for the Bath Recital Artist's Trust.
