Since its conception as a professional chamber group in 2004, the London Myriad Ensemble has given concerts internationally, with a repertoire by composers ranging from Mozart to Chick Corea.
The London Myriad Ensemble performs principally as a wind quintet whose members share a passion for chamber music alongside a wealth of experience within the profession. Individual members have worked with major ensembles and eminent musicians in the UK, Europe and Africa. Their collective experience of classical, jazz and contemporary music enables them to perform across a wide musical spectrum and to programme exciting and diverse concerts.
- Julie Groves, Flute
- Nadia Wilson, Clarinet
- Jenni Britton, Oboe
- Susana Dias, Bassoon
- Paul Cott, Horn
The London Myriad Ensemble has performed at venues such as St. Martin-in-the-Fields, St. James's, Piccadilly and at the residence of the British High Commissioner to the Seychelles.
The ensemble was quintet in residence, on a full scholarship at the Dartington International Summer School in 2005, and at the Seychelles International Festival of Classical Music 2006.
'Destined to be a leading UK chamber group' Laurence Perkins Manchester Camerata
The ensemble has a particular interest in new music and in expanding the repertoire for woodwind quintet, having recently given the world premi¸re of Ultramarine by Peter Nickol, which was written for the ensemble. Future plans include premi¸res of works by Carl Schimmel, Karl Nicklas Gustavsson and Ross Clarke, among others.
Education Work
As experienced instrumental teachers, the ensemble has made a commitment to extend access to their music. Education work has led to many workshops and masterclasses at primary and secondary school level.
The London Myriad Ensemble have been working as a resident ensemble with the Concordia Foundation for the past two years. They have taken an active part in the foundation's 'Young Audiences' project, which incorporates music, art and drama into a holistic and entertaining show which offers children in the East of London an opportunity to experience the creative arts first hand and to learn more about the woodwind instruments of the orchestra.
The quintet have also given workshops in around London, at the Centre for Young Musicians at Morley College and schools in Tower Hamlets. Individual members of the group are experienced at teaching both individuals and groups at all levels.
