  RACHEL CANNON  (Clarinet, Clarinet Bass)» 

Rachel's solo work includes recitals with pianist, Susie Allan; concertos with the Sheffield Symphony Orchestra (Spohr No 1 and Mozart); and a live radio broadcast for Classic FM in 1995.

Rachel performed the Brahms Clarinet Trio at the Purcell Room (1996) and has given chamber recitals with the Clarinet, Soprano and Piano trio Triquetra.

Rachel has been involved with community projects for Live Music Now! and Calderdale Music for the Deaf, and is particularly interested in music for autistic children, as she researched it as part of her final Graduate year specialisation.

Rachel has also participated in various community and education projects with OSJ during the last five years.

Orchestral Work
Orchestras: English Chamber Orchestra, English Festival Orchestra, English National Opera Orchestra, London Pro Arte, Milton Keynes City Orchestra, Musical Associates (UK) Limited, Orchestra of St John's, Thames Festival Orchestra.

Rachel's orchestral work also includes the London Soloists Chamber Orchestra, D'Oyly Carte Opera, London Mozart Players, National Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Opera (trial, 1992), Haffner Wind Ensemble.

Education
Rachel was born in Clitheroe, Lancashire 1969. Rachel's schooling took place at Chetham's School of Music (1986 - 1988). Rachel's graduate studies took place at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama (1988 - 1992).

Prizes and Awards

  • Worshipful Company of Musicians' Silver Medal (1992)
  • Guildhall School Gold Medal Competition (2nd prize, 1992)
  • Ian Fleming Trust Scholarship (1992)

Teachers: Julian Farrell, Thea King, Ruth McDowell (bass), Nick Rodwell (Eb) and masterclasses with Alan Hacker, Antony Pay and Andrew Marriner.
