Kate studied flute with Derek Honner and later with Ann Cherry and John Bowler (piccolo) at Trinity College of Music, where she graduated with honours in 1995. During her time there she won first prize for the Student Union Award for chamber music and was awarded first prize in the Gladys Puttick Prize for Extemporisation.

Since graduating Kate has worked with orchestra and opera companies throughout the UK and has toured with them in Barbados, Central America, India and Europe.

Kate was co-principal flute with the Yucatan Symphony Orchestra in Mexico (2003 - 2007). She performed chamber music concerts in all the major theatres in Yucatan and as a soloist for the Institute of Culture. She played regularly for live broadcasts and recordings for both radio and television.

Kate was sub-principal flute with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra. (2007 -2008) and in October 2008 Kate returned to freelance in London.

Kate's orchestral work also includes Cuba National Ballet, London Festival Opera, British Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, European Chamber Opera, English Sinfonia, English Symphony Orchestra, London Festival Orchestra, Bath Philharmonic, Cantebury Philharmonic Orchestra, Chameleon Arts Orchestra, Coldstream Guards Band (Extra for CD recording). Opera experience also includes Opera Della Luna, Opera Del Mar, Carl Rosa Opera Company, Centenary Opera Company, Bel Canto Opera, Beaufort Opera, Reigate Operatic. Shows include Miss Saigon UK tour (Deputy flute/piccolo/ethnic flutes).

Previous full time orchestral employment with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra (sub-principal and piccolo, 2007-2008) and the Orquesta Sinfonica de Yucatan (2nd flute, acting co-principal and piccolo, 2003-2007).

Chamber music experience includes:

• Flute and guitar duo, including recitals in Cheltenham, British Music Information Centre, Essex Uni, Horsham Arts Centre and Westminster Library.
• Cantilena (flute, viola and harp), with recitals for the Institute of Culture, Yucatan.
• Espectro (Flute, Cello, Piano), specialising in contemporary music.
• Ensemble De Alientos (Wind Quartet), with recitals for the Institute of Culture, Yucatan.
• Grace Quartet (Flute and Strings), with recitals including St James Piccadilly, Brighton Chapel Royal, St Mary Le Strand, Rudolph Steiner House and recital cruises for Swan Hellenic and Saga.
• Wind trio - recitals for St James Caviller Arts Centre, Malta.

Solo work includes:

• Recitals and workshops for the British Embassy, Kolkata
• Ginastera - Impressions Por La Puna (Orquesta Sinfonica de Yucatan)
• W.A. Mozart - Flute Concerto in D Major (Greenwich Sinfonia, Harlequin Ensemble

Education
Kate's graduate studies took place at Trinity College of Music, London (1992-1995, GTCL hons).
