Maren Heidemann is based in London and specialises as a freelance player in solo recitals and ensemble management, as well as playing piccolo, alto and bass flute for specialised orchestral parts. Maren's solo repertory includes all major flute literature, particularly French flute music of the past century as well as music for flute and voice. Maren's repertory also includes the major orchestral works as well as most orchestral parts for bass and alto flute.

Maren Heidemann graduated from the Conservatoire of Cologne in Germany in 1985 where she studied with the late Caecilie Lamerichs. Based in Freiburg, she continued her musical training mainly with Prof. Felix Renggli in Basle until 1994. She attended masterclasses with Felix Renggli in Geneva and with Michael Faust (principal flautist of the RSO Cologne) in Italy.

Maren was a winner of regional and federal youth competitions in Germany and has performed solo concertos with various chamber ensembles in Freiburg and elsewhere in Germany and Europe including tours to Britain in 1985 and 1986.

Maren moved to Britain in 1994 where she has played principal flute for a number of student and other orchestras and appeared as soloist in Nottingham with the flute concerto by Jacques Ibert as well as in several wind chamber music and solo recitals with pianists Martin Leigh and Antony Clare.

Since 2004, Maren has been principal flautist of St Clements Wind Ensemble (SCWE) in London which she formed together with Glenn Colville (Horn). SCWE have performed regularly in major London concert venues as well as at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and in other European countries.

Orchestral Work

Maren's orchestral work includes Maerkisches Bachensemble, Kammerorchester im Volmetal, Academic Orchestra Freiburg, KHG Orchestra Freiburg and Deutsch-Skandinavische Jugendphilharmonie in Berlin, and the Nottingham Philharmonic Orchestra, Nottingham Symphony Orchestra and St Clements Wind Ensemble in the UK.

Education
Maren's graduate studies took place at Conservatoire of Cologne, Germany (graduating in 1985).
