Nancy Ruffer has been active as a soloist and chamber music player since 1977. She presents recitals of solo flute with electronics and recently performed at Bristol University and in the past at Queen's University, Belfast, Hertfordshire University and Durham University.
In addition she works as a duo with harpists Hugh Webb and Jean Kelly and has a trio with John Anderson, oboe, and Helen Crayford, piano. She has performed the Bach Suite in b minor, for flute and strings, Mozart flute quartets, Vivaldi piccolo concertos, as well as the flute and piano repertoire.
As a specialist in the in performance of contemporary music, Nancy has had works written for her by composers around the world. She has performed and recorded for the BBC, and in festivals and concert halls throughout the UK and abroad.
She is principal flute of some of the UK's leading contemporary ensembles including Music Projects/London, the Matrix Ensemble, The Almeida Ensemble and Topologies. Nancy is a member of Apartment House and has played for productions at The National Theatre.

Nancy's orchestral work also includes Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Expose, Circle, Uroboros.
Nancy's theatre work includes 'Les Miserables' and 'Phantom' and she has been a regular member of the National Theatre Orchestras including 'Red Balloon (NT), 'Lady in the Dark', 'Invention of Love', Oklahoma!
Nancy's studio work includes sessions for Tanya Davall and Ann Manly.
Education Nancy's graduate studies took place at the University of Michigan (1970 - 1976), Pennsylvania State University (1974 - 1975) and the Royal Academy of Music (1976 - 1977). Prizes and Awards
