ReviewsBritten's Lachrymae Vaugham Williams Flos Campi Emma Sheppard's viola playing was magical, supported by excellent woodwind and percussion as, together with some subtle string playing, they created an exquisite tapestry of sound, evoking the enigma which lies at the heart of the work. It has a sensuality, deriving from the poetry, which explores the mystery of love, its complexity and emotional range. The choir, whose part is without words, was perfectly balanced and sensitive to the mood and flow of the different movements and colours. This was a well-nigh perfect realisation of a remarkable work of genius, given a shining intensity by Jason Thornton and his musicians, which left an indelible impression - wow..."
